Article 1: Purposes of processing personal information
Y.S. Chang & Associates processes personal information for the following purposes. Personal information being processed will not be used for purposes other than the following, and if the purpose of use changes, necessary measures will be taken, such as obtaining separate consent in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

1. Customer's personal information
Patent rights, utility model rights, design rights, trademark rights, copyrights (hereinafter “patent rights, etc.”) application, registration, and management agency services requested by customers.
Carrying out cases requested by or involving the customer and making necessary contact in relation thereto

2. Job applicant’s personal information
Confirmation of the applicant's identity, educational background, and experience, management of past application history, decision and notification of employment, and confirmation of intent to apply for further employment
Use as reference material when considering hiring

3. Personal information of executives and employees
Establishment and maintenance of employment relationship with Y.S. Chang & Associates, wage payment, training, issuance of certificates, provision of welfare benefits to workers and their families, employment insurance, national pension, etc., personnel management

Article 2: Processing and retention period of personal information
① Y.S. Chang & Associates processes and retains personal information within the personal information retention and use period pursuant to laws and regulations or within the personal information retention and use period agreed upon when collecting personal information from the information subject.
② The processing and retention period for each type of personal information is as follows.
1. Customer's personal information
Application, registration, and management work period for patent rights requested by the customer
Excluding cases where preservation is necessary in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws and regulations due to the performance of relevant duties, etc.
2. Job applicant’s personal information
"3 years after completion of the hiring process"
3. Personal information of executives and employees
3 years after employee retirement

Article 3: Items of personal information to be processed
Y.S. Chang & Associates processes the following types of personal information
1. Customer's personal information
Required items: Name (Korean, English), resident registration number (alien registration number) or phone number (home, work, mobile phone), applicant code, address (home, work), e-mail, customer's seal or signature, name of workplace, rank and position at workplace
2. Job applicant’s personal information
Required items: name, ID photo, date of birth, phone number, address, e-mail, educational background, work history, military service details
Optional items: qualifications, language skills, family information
3. Personal information of executives and employees
Required items: name, resident registration number, phone number (home, mobile phone), address, e-mail, educational background, work history, military service details, banking information
Optional: permanent domicile, family information

Article 4: Matters concerning the processing of personal information of children under 14 years of age
① When collecting personal information about children under the age of 14, Y.S. Chang & Associates obtains the consent of the legal representative and collects the minimum amount of personal information necessary to perform the requested service. Required items: Name, relationship, and contact information of legal representative
② When collecting personal information of children under the age of 14, Y.S. Chang & Associates may request minimum information from the child, such as the name and contact information of the legal representative, and confirm whether the legal representative has consented by using one of the following methods.
Methods for submitting written consent of the child's legal representative affixed with a signature of seal via fax, mail, or direct delivery
Methods for submitting written consent of the child's legal representative via email
Methods for provision of consent via telephone, confirmation of previously provided consent via telephone, and guidance on the giving of consent via telephone
Other methods aside from the above for informing the child's legal representative of consent and confirming consent obtained therefrom.
Article 5: Provision of personal information to third parties
① Y.S. Chang & Associates processes the personal information of the subject only within the scope specified in the section on the’ purposes of processing personal information,’ and only in cases that fall under Articles 17 and 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act, including the consent of the subject and special provisions of the law. Otherwise, the personal information of the subject is not provided to third parties.
② In order to provide smooth service, Y.S. Chang & Associates obtains the consent of the subject in the following cases and provides only the minimum necessary information.

* Those who provide personal information have the right to refuse consent to the collection and use of personal information, but please note that if you do not consent, we will not be able to perform application and registration work on your behalf.

③ Y.S. Chang & Associates may provide personal information to relevant organizations without the consent of the information subject in the event of an emergency such as a disaster, an infectious disease, an incident or accident causing imminent life or physical danger, or imminent property loss, as follows.

제6조 개인정보 처리업무의 위탁
본 특허법인은 원칙적으로 개인정보 업무처리를 위하여 개인정보 처리업무를 타인에게 위탁하지 않습니다. 향후, 개인정보 처리업무의 위탁이 필요한 경우에는, 위탁받는 자(수탁자), 위탁하는 업무의 내용을 본 개인정보 처리방침을 통하여 공개하도록 하겠습니다.


Article 7: Procedures and methods for destroying personal information
① Y.S. Chang & Associates destorys personal information without delay when the personal information becomes unnecessary, such as when the personal information retention period has passed or the purpose of processing has been achieved.
② In cases where personal information must continue to be preserved pursuant to other laws and regulations even though the personal information retention period agreed to by the subject has elapsed or the purpose of processing has been achieved, the personal information may be transferred to and saved at a separate database (DB) or storage location.
③ The procedures and methods for destroying personal information are as follows.
1. Destruction procedure
Y.S. Chang & Associates destroys personal information that is subject to destruction with the approval of the patent firm's personal information protection manager.
2. Destruction Method
Personal information recorded and stored in the form of electronic files at Y.S. Chang & Associates is destroyed so that the records cannot be reproduced, and personal information recorded and stored in paper documents is destroyed by shredding or incineration.

Article 8: Rights, obligations, and methods of enforcement for the subjects of personal information
① The subject may exercise their rights, such as requesting, viewing, correcting, deleting, or suspending processing of personal information, at any time.
Requests such as the viewing of personal information regarding children under the age of 14 must be made directly by the legal representative of the child. Subjects who are minors over the age of 14 may exercise their rights regarding the personal information of the subject themselves or through their legal representative.
② Rights can be exercised through writing, e-mail, facsimile (fax), etc. in accordance with Article 41, Paragraph 1 of the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act, and Y.S. Chang & Associates will take action without delay.
③ Rights may be exercised through an agent, such as the subject's legal representative or a person authorized to do so. In this case, a power of attorney must be submitted in accordance with the form in Annex No. 11 of the “Notice on Personal Information Processing Methods (No. 2020-7).
④ Requests to view and suspend personal information processing may limit the information subject's rights pursuant to Article 35, Paragraph 4 and Article 37, Paragraph 2 of the Personal Information Protection Act.
⑤ Requests for correction and deletion of personal information cannot be requested if the personal information is specified as a collection target in other laws and regulations.
⑥ Y.S. Chang & Associates confirms whether the person who made the request, such as a request for viewing, a request for correction or deletion, or a request for suspension of processing in accordance with the information subject rights, is the person or a legitimate agent.

Article 9: Measures to ensure the safety of personal information
Y.S. Chang & Associates takes the following measures to ensure the safety of personal information.
1. Management measures: Establishment and implementation of an internal management plan, operation of dedicated team for personal information, and regular employee training
2. Technical measures: Management of access rights to the personal information processing system, installation of an access control system, encryption of personal information, the installation and update of security programs
3. Physical measures: Limitation of access to computer rooms, data storage rooms, etc.

Article 10: Matters concerning the installation and operation of devices that automatically collect personal information and the refusal thereof
Y.S. Chang & Associates does not use ‘cookies’ that store and frequently retrieve the information subject’s usage information.

Article 11: Matters concerning the person in charge of personal information protection
① Y.S. Chang & Associates is responsible for the overall management of personal information processing, and has designated a personal information protection officer as follows to handle complaints and provide relief for damages from the subjects whose personal information undergoes processing.
